Website Design Tips

A message from Sam

As web designers/developers we are constantly faced with inconsistencies usually due to 'Browser' differences in interpreting HTML & CSS.

In this section I will be displaying information found to fix issues i've had. If you have any info which you have discovered that you would like to share, drop me an email.

Cheers Sam

What they mean

Common Acronyms

HTML - Hypertext Markup Language
HTML is the predominant markup language for web pages. It provides a means to create structured documents for text such as headings, paragraphs, lists etc as well as for links, quotes, and other items. It allows images and objects to be embedded and can be used to create interactive forms.

CSS - Cascading Style Sheets
CSS is a style sheet language used to describe the presentation (that is, the look and formatting) of a document written in a markup language. Its most common application is to style web pages written in HTML and XHTML, but the language can be applied to any kind of XML document, including SVG and XUL.

PHP - PHP Hypertext Processor
PHP is a widely used, general-purpose scripting language that was originally designed for web development, to produce dynamic web pages. It can be embedded into HTML and generally runs on a web server.

ASP - Active Server Pages
ASP is a specification for a dynamically created Web page with a .ASP extension that utilizes ActiveX scripting -- usually VB Script or Jscript code. When a browser requests an ASP, the Web server generates a page with HTML code and sends it back to the browser.
